The Milwaukee County Clerk’s office has a paid intern position for a college junior, senior, graduate student, law student or recent graduate interested in working in local government.

Hours
15-20 hours per week, flexible 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
Salary
$10.70 - $13.25 per hour (depending on education and experience)
Education
Law student, undergraduate junior, senior, graduate student, or recent graduate in political science, public administration or related field
Position Description
The intern reports directly to the County Clerk and will be involved in a variety of activities in an office that provides services to the County Board of Supervisors, county government departments and the public. Responsibilities will vary, but may include customer service, research, writing, documenting legislative proceedings and updating county ordinances.

· Ability to work with elected officials and the public
· Strong research skills, including computer-based research
· Working knowledge of the legislative process, statutes and ordinances
