The County Health Programs Division (CHP) administers two critical health initiatives in Milwaukee County: the General Assistance Medical Program (GAMP) and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program. GAMP is a nationally recognized program that provides medical coverage for indigent individuals and enrolls them in a clinic-based health caresystem that is designed to provide primary care and avoid hospitalization. EMS provides Paramedic Advanced Life Support services to all Milwaukee County residents in partnershipwith municipal fire departments and the Medical College of Wisconsin. GAMP provides general medical services to uninsured individuals residing in Milwaukee County who meet specific criteria. This program is a partnership between Milwaukee County and Wheaton Franciscan Health Care, Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Columbia/St. Mary's Hospital and Aurora Health Care.
