Welcome to the official website for the Milwaukee County Courts.
The Milwaukee County Circuit Court system consists of 47 circuit court judges and 22 court commissioners, who process in excess of 160,000 case files per year. There are several ways to navigate this website. One is to navigate the system by breakdown of responsibilities within the court system (i.e., Criminal, Civil, Children’s and Probate), or you can use Court Services Information. There you will find Preparing for Court, Juror Information, Judge Information, Court Information and Other Information, with links to the various topics within each section. You may also want to view our Frequently Asked Questions page.
There are five divisions and two administrative sections: Children’s Division, Civil Division, Criminal Division, Jury Management, Probate, Administrative Services and the office of the Chief Judge.
The Children’s Division, 257-7700, includes cases such as children in need of protective services, juvenile delinquency, adoptions and termination of parental rights. The Civil Division, 278-4120, includes small and large claims, family cases and the Milwaukee Justice Center. The Criminal Division, 278-4538, includes misdemeanor, felony, and traffic cases, including tickets issued by various agencies such as the DNR, State Patrol, UWM and State Fair Park. Jury Management, 278-4621, provides information on jury duty, maps, parking, security screening, and everything related to jury duty. The Probate Division, 278-4449, provides information about wills, trusts and estates, guardianships, protective placements, mental health commitments and records filed for safe keeping.
The Administrative Services section, 278-5362, provides contact numbers, judicial rosters, and breakdown of judges by divisions. The Administrative Division also handles all accounting, and oversees the general operation of the courts. The office of the Chief Judge, 278-5112, provides answers to questions and comments related to judges and court commissioners. This office also handles judicial assignments, waiver of fees, and management of court reporters.
Using the Court Services Information to navigate this website, you will likely find the information you need within it for Circuit Court Fees, Maps, Record Access, etc. and click on that highlighted information. Each area is broken down in ways that we hope will be easy to understand. If you have any suggestions for improvements to our website, please send them to ctimail@wicourts.gov. We are always happy to hear from you.
