WHY MILWAUKEE?
Click here to see Milwaukee Spreading its wings!
Milwaukee is a unique public-private state marketing and business recruitment organization. Our job is marketing outside Milwaukee to attract new businesses, jobs and increased economic activity to the state. Milwaukee was created in 1984 and is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. Our group has an annual budget of approximately $1 million. Private sector contributors provide more than half of that funding, with the balance coming from the State of Milwaukee.
Message from County Executive Scott Walker:
Close to twenty Milwaukee County business and community leaders are working together to improve our local economy by serving on an Economic Development Task Force, which was appointed by County Executive Scott Walker. This Task Force will examine current economic conditions in Milwaukee County, and collaborate on creating strategies to improve economic growth and outcomes.
"Job creation and retention are key issues for our county," said County Executive Scott Walker." In an attempt to define a consistent strategy, I am seeking your ideas on the direction we should take in county government."
In the next few months, Task Force leaders will address several questions designed to help reshape the county's economy, such as: In what ways should we improve current economic development strategies? How should the Community Development Block Grant program and Private Industry Council (PIC) work? What opportunities exist for the county to work with other levels of government.
