Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age or older at time of application.
  • The examination is open to qualified residents of the State of Wisconsin. Appointee must establish residence in Milwaukee County within six months of appointment and maintain such residency during incumbency.
  • Graduation from high school or high school equivalency diploma required.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's license at time of application and maintained during incumbency.
  • Applicant shall be of good character determined from results of finger- printing and background investigation.
  • Certification by the Law Enforcement Standards Board must be acquired during the probationary period and maintained during incumbency.
  • College level course work in law enforcement, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, education or social work preferred.
