School Safety Award
School Safety Award
Mayor Barrett stands with Congresswoman Gwen Moore, Ramon Candelaria of the Latino Community Center, Acting Police Chief Dale Schunk and other community and educational leaders to celebrate a $15,000 national award to the LCC and Milwaukee Police Department to expand a successful youth intervention program. The Award, sponsored by MetLife Foundation and administered by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), recognize partnerships between community development groups and police departments that have reduced crime and spurred housing development, economic activity and improved community services in low- and moderate-income communities. The Milwaukee partners will receive a $15,000 award for exemplary School Safety. Latino Community Center and Milwaukee Police Department were selected from more than 400 applicants nationwide to receive just one of 11 MetLife Foundation Awards.
