| Willie Johnson, Jr. was elected 13th District Supervisor in 2000 and is serving his third term on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Johnson was born in Waukegan, Illinois on March 22, 1951. A resident of Milwaukee since childhood, he graduated valedictorian of his class at Lincoln High School and earned a bachelors degree in political science and economics from Northwestern University. Prior to his election, Supervisor Johnson worked for the Milwaukee County Department of Human Services- Financial Assistance Division and Child Welfare Division. Supervisor Johnson is a member of the Cambridge Who's Who Among Executives and Professionals, Democratic Party, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council, NAACP, Milwaukee Urban League Guild, National Forum for Black Public Administrators, National Association of Black County Officials, National Association of Social Workers, and Wisconsin Association of Equal Opportunity; the supervisor is a trained consultant and facilitator for the Nurturing Program and a trained AODA assessment counselor. He has been a board member of Neighborhood Housing Services/ NeighborWorks of Milwaukee and a task group member for the Housing Opportunity Partnership for Southeastern Wisconsin and Strategies to Overcome Predatory Practices of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council (MMFHC). He is presently a member of the MMFHC Advisory Committee, the Milwaukee Housing Trust Fund Coalition, the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, the National Low Income Housing Coalition and the National Fair Housing Alliance. Trained by the Homeownership Counseling Consortium, he is both a homeownership counselor and a homeownership educator. To address community and economic development issues, Supervisor Johnson is a member of the Harambee Ombudsman Project, Riverwest Neighborhood Association and Government Finance Officers Association. He is also a volunteer of the Riverwest Development Corporation and the Milwaukee Local Initiatives Support Corporation. An advocate of small business formation, Supervisor Johnson is a member of the Wisconsin Economic Development Association and the Wisconsin Business Incubation Association. The Governor appointed him to the State of Wisconsin Minority Business Development Board and the state secretary of administration has appointed the supervisor to the State of Wisconsin Council on Small Business, Veteran-Owned Business and Minority Business Opportunities. He has been a Junior Achievement of Wisconsin consultant for over twelve years. Supervisor Johnson volunteers for the Center for Teaching Entrepreneurship, Wisconsin Women's Business Initiative Corporation, and Youth Enterprise Academy of the Center for Economic Education/UWM. He serves on the boards of Fighting Back, the Parenting Network, Milwaukee Area Workforce Development Board, Economics Wisconsin, 100 Black Men of Greater Milwaukee, Milwaukee Public Theatre, Milwaukee County Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Rebuilding Together Greater Milwaukee, Urban Economic Development Association of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Counties Association, Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation, and the Milwaukee County Research Park. He is presently appointed to the Bureau of Child Welfare Partnership Council, Milwaukee County Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Milwaukee County Community Justice Council Steering Committee, Wisconsin Associated County Extension Committees, Milwaukee County Committee to Redevelop the Park East and is chairman of the Milwaukee County Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Steering Committee. The supervisor is appointed to the Marquette Interchange Project DBE Goal Setting Committee having served as a member of the Marquette Interchange Project DBE Advisory Committee of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation during his first term. Supervisor Johnson is chairman of the County Board Judiciary, Safety and General Services Committee and a member of the County Board Finance and Audit Committee and County Board Economic and Community Development Committee. He has served on the Milwaukee County AODA Quality Assurance Task Force, Milwaukee County Parks, Recreation and Culture Dedicated Funding Task Force, and Milwaukee County Task Force on Segregation and Race Relations; the supervisor is a member of the Milwaukee County Local Emergency Planning Committee and is Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trained; Supervisor Johnson is a member of the Milwaukee County Care Management Organization (CMO) Governing Board, serves on the Milwaukee County Apprenticeship Work Group and is an appointee to the Milwaukee County Strategic Planning Operations Team.
