Milwaukee County Clerk

The Milwaukee County Clerk provides services to the County Board, County Executive, county government departments, the citizens of Milwaukee County and the general public.

The independently elected County Clerk records the proceedings of the County Board of Supervisors, maintains all legislative files, updates existing ordinances and publishes new ordinances on-line.  The County Clerk issues marriage licenses and domestic partnership declarations, and registers all lobbyists and lobbying principals and reports to the the public on lobbying activity.  The County Clerk also accepts applications for passports, sells bus tickets and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) licenses and permits.  As an information clearinghouse for county governemnt, the County Clerk administers oaths of office, maintains the central files for Milwaukee County reports, records, contracts and corporate documents, receives and publicly opens bids, and processes lien notices and garnishment actions, tax levies and wage assignments of County employees.
