Supervisor Patricia Jursik was elected to the 8th District in a special election in August, 2007 and was re-elected in April, 2008. She is the Chair of the County Board of Personnel Committee and serves on the County Board's Finance and Audit and Judiciary, Safety and General Services Committees. She is a partner in the Jursik & Jursik Law Offices and is a Milwaukee County Hearing Officer for Condemnation Proceedings.
She holds both Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is also a graduate of Marquette University's School of Law, where she was a Callaghan Scholar. Prior to becoming an attorney, Jursik taught grades 4 through 6 in the Milwaukee Public Schools. During President Reagan's term, Jursik was invited to the White House Conference on Women and Education. She also served as Chairperson of the Milwaukee Area Technical College Board of Directors from 1981 to 1983.
Supervisor Jursik serves on the Holy Sepulcher Board of Directors, and has also served on the Southeast Affordable Housing Board and the Catholic Social Services Board. She is affiliated with the Wisconsin and Milwaukee Bar Associations, belongs to the South Shore Yacht Club and is a lifetime member of the Slovak Historical Society. In 2002, the Cudahy Chamber of Commerce named Jursik "Business Person of the Year".
She enjoys many outdoor activities, including bicycling, kayaking, hiking, cross-country skiing, tennis and golf, all of which she does in the wonderful Milwaukee County Parks System. She also enjoys writing and reading. Supervisor Jursik and her husband live in Cudahy. They have two daughters currently attending college.
